Biography:

My name is Temitope Elshabazz, a furniture and functional art designer based in Lagos, Nigeria. With a keen eye for detail and a passion for unique designs, i have been commercially active in the design industry for the past 8 years, and Heph for 5 years. I’m inspired by a fusion of African architecture, brutalism, and Japanese design culture, our designs as represented at Heph are both functional and artistic, reflecting my deep appreciation for form, texture, and balance, while also sparking intriguing dialogue between an object and people for positive and sentimental impact. I draw inspiration from my day to say experiences and particularly, I love exploring other cultures and their design styles. I try to push beyond what’s possible in the realm and how other materials can be married to make sustainable products that are beneficial to people and to the environment.
